Fannie Greenberg

Fannie Adler Greenberg (May 24, 1895 – October 5, 2007) was an American supercentenarian and is considered to have been New York's oldest resident from May 6, 2007 (the death of fellow Italian immigrant Rosaria Caleca)〔(theregencyatglencove.com )〕 until her own death five months later.
Born in Ottawa, Canada, she married in 1913 and moved to the United States shortly thereafter. A Buffalo woman, Olivia Patricia Thomas, is now the oldest New Yorker at age 114, according to the Gerontology Research Group.
For years she worked in a clothing store and was known for her fondness of jewelry. Her husband died in 1978. She moved to Regency Cove, an assisted-living facility in Glen Cove, New York in 1998. At the time of her death, she was believed to be the oldest living Jew in the world.
In 2005, Greenberg was featured as the 50th and last person in the book "Wisdom of the World's Oldest People" by Jerry Friedman, which featured recollections of people aged 108 and older, both validated and unvalidated.〔(Amazon.com: Earth's Elders: The Wisdom of the World's Oldest People: Books: Jerry Friedman,Robert Coles,Lama Surya Das,Dr. Joycelyn Elders )〕
Greenberg was survived by a huge extended family, headed by her daughter, Claire Greenberg Rivers, and her only surviving sibling, her brother, Max Adler, of Ottawa.
